OOPS! The Answer!

Simple! It was the husbands fault!!! We discovered that the oil cap was missing! The husband had checked the oil just before the wife left on a trip down to Medford that morning and somehow got sidetracked and forgot to put the cap back! The wife in this case, drove all the way to Medford and back with the cap off and the oil was splattered all over the engine compartment! She was lucky that it did not start a fire! The engine also seems to have dodged a bullet, because it only had about a quart… Continue

Wedding Fallout!

Happy Fathersday! I hope this adds a little more enjoyment to your day! Everyone is familiar with the traditions that we all enjoy at weddings. One such tradition is tying things to the bumper, like cans, to make alot of noise and make it almost impossible for the bride and groom to slip away unnoticed! Well recently a young couple pulled into the shop complaining about a noise coming from the rear of their vehicle. We immediately noticed the shoe polish sign across the back window "JUST MARRIE… Continue

Howdy!!! Well it’s that time! As no one was able to give the correct answer to my last automotive brainteaser, I need to move on and provide the answer! Our Snowbird vehicle when we checked it out was found to have a blown fuse! Logical right? The technician installed a new fuse, turned on the heater but after a few seconds the fuse blew! Again no surprise, except how long it took the fuse to blow. The technician decided the problem had to be in the fan moter so he removed the heater fan & m… Continue

Learned Something New the Hard Way!

Top of the Mornin to Ya! Today a customer learned a very difficult lesson! The story starts last night when the customer came home, parked the car in the garage and went to spend time with the family. Just one little mistake, the customer had turned on the headlamp override switch. This bypasses the automatic shutoff feature! Of course the next morning while in a hurry to get to work, the customer found the battery “Dead as a door nail!” The customer jumped to action and connected a standard 10a… Continue

The Change of Seasons

Hi Everyone! Every year with the change of the seasons, I see a pattern in the failures that occur with customers cars. Everyone knows that we go from warmer to colder and back again as the seasons change, but did you know your car is adjusting to these changes? A newer vehicles computer monitors the temperature and adjust the output of the alternator. In Hot weather the computer lowers the charging rate to keep the battery from getting too hot and boiling off the fluid in the battery. In cold w… Continue
