What is a Belgian Waffle?
BelgiQue, LLC was created out of our passion for sharing our experiences obtained over many years of travel in Europe. The Belgian Waffle is a fine example of one of these experiences. A waffle in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other as we strolled through the streets of Brussels Belgium gave rise to the desire to share this one experience.
Our waffles are produced by adding pearl sugar, imported from Belgium, to a raised dough and baked in a traditional waffle iron. They are firmer and denser than the waffles we know in the US as a Belgian waffle. The sugar caramelizes on the outside of the waffle when baked lending to the crisp outside and preserving a warm and tender interior.
Today, the Belgian waffle is a popular street-food across Europe. Served warm, plain or garnished with chocolate, fruit, ice-cream or whipped cream it is enjoyed by thousands of shoppers and sight-seers. Our goal is to bring you a little taste of Europe wherever you are. We enjoy combining the rich, traditional flavors of Belgium with the stunning scenery and green freshness of the Pacific Northwest. The best of both worlds!
Coffee is a perfect companion to complement the taste and texture of the Liege Style Waffle.
